Tips to Help Your Child Be Successful
1. Provide an organized, structured environment. Children function better and feel more secure if they know what to expect. Following through with things that you say to your child is key to this.
2. Strive for perfect attendance. Kindergarten isn't the same as when we were students; it's so much more demanding!
3. Take your child to Mass. Expect your child to sit, stand, and kneel at the appropriate times and maintain a reverent attitude. Have your child use the restroom before and after Mass instead of during Mass.
4. Provide nutritional breakfasts and lunches. Watch the sugars, chocolates, empty carbs, and dyes.
5. Have a regular bedtime routine and make sure your child is getting enough sleep each night.
6. Check all papers sent home. Be sure that your child understands what he or she did incorrectly.
7. Make frequent trips to the library. Get a library card for your child. Read to and with your child daily.
8. If your child comes home with strange stories, get in touch with me. I hear good stories too.
9. Help your child develop germ-fighting habits.
10. Ask your child on a regular basis if school supplies need to be replenished.
11. Send your child to school prepared and dressed appropriately.
