The students will learn many prayers throughout the year. We have a morning prayer, an end of day prayer, a mealtime blessing, an after-meal prayer, and the Sign of the Cross that we will pray on a daily basis. The students will be assessed on their ability to recite the Sign of the Cross, the Mealtime Blessing, and the Grace After Meal prayers correctly. The children will learn other Catholic prayers too such as the Lord's Prayer, the Hail Mary, the prayer to St. Michael, and the Glory Be; but we will not be assessing these prayers each quarter.
Morning Prayer
Dear God, I offer You today, all I think and do and say. Amen
End of Day Prayer
Thank you, God, for this day, for our work, and for our play. Amen.
Mealtime Blessing
Bless us,
O Lord,
and these thy gifts,
which we are about to receive
from thy bounty.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Grace After Meal
We give Thee thanks,
Almighty God,
For these and all Thy gifts
Which we have received
from Thy goodness,
through Christ our Lord.
Amen
The Sigh of the Cross
The right hand is used to make the motions because Jesus sits at the right hand of God the Father.
In the name of the Father, (Touch forehead)
And of the Son, (Touch heart or stomach)
And of the Holy (Touch left front shoulder)
Spirit. (Touch right front shoulder)
Amen. (Fold hands in front of heart.)
